Auxiliary Police Officers Needed

Join us

Residents who live in or near West Hempstead, Franklin Square, Lakeview, Garden City South, Malverne Park, Malverne Oaks, North Lynbrook, North Valley Stream, Valley Stream, and South Floral Park, your Auxiliary Police is looking for concerned residents between the ages of 18 and 60 to assist the Nassau County Police Department in protecting our communities. Nassau Residents must meet the following qualifications to become a member of the department:

Applicants must be

  • A United States citizen
  • A resident of Nassau County
  • Of good moral character
  • Between the ages of eighteen and sixty

Applicants must also posses

  • No record of a misdemeanor or felony
  • A valid New York State driver's license
  • A high school diploma or GED

Applicants must be willing to

  • Submit to fingerprinting
  • Have their background investigated by the Applicant Investigation Unit of the Nassau County Police Department
  • Submit to a drug test
  • Submit to a psychological examination
  • Submit to a physical exam conducted by the Nassau County Police Department Surgeon's Office

Applicants must be able to donate a minimum of twelve hours per month.
